In recent year’s hazard identification, risk assessment, risk control and a risk based thinking has become fundamental to the practice of planning, management and the operation of a business. Risk management underpins legislation and its various enacted acts and regulations in many countries. Risk management has been included into the international standards by the International Organisation of Standardisation (ISO) and is integrated in quality (ISO 9001), environment (ISO 14001), occupational health and safety (ISO 45001), information security (ISO 27001) etc. ISO 31000 is the standard on risk management providing the principles and guidelines for effective risk management. The purpose of this programme is to provide learners with the necessary competence to identify hazards, assess the risks and to develop the applicable controls in the workplace. NQF Level 2
